The Bookfriends warehouse in Wauconda is getting a face-lift: the front rooms have new ceilings, walls, doors and carpeted floors. The project was organized and supervised by an area 4-H’er. Most of the materials and labor were donated. What a gift to Bookfriends!!

Thousands of books have been donated to Bookfriends from public libraries, schools, book stores and individuals in the first quarter of 2009. It has been a busy time for our book sorters! Included in the recent donations were 13,000+ books donated from a city school district consolidating its facilities. The donation was greatly appreciated! It required a mega-effort by a team of very dedicated volunteers who boxed and labeled 280 boxes of books for transport to Bookfriends. Their hard work allowed us to keep the warehouse space open for packing books for the next 10 African schools.
